World Grand Prix Snooker 2027: Dates, Format & How to Watch
Published · Mark O'Sullivan
The 2027 World Grand Prix is provisionally scheduled for 16 to 21 February 2027 at the Kai Tak Arena in Hong Kong, its third year there. Only the top 32 players on the one-year ranking list qualify, it is shown in the UK on TNT Sports (streaming on HBO Max), and the winner receives £180,000. Zhao Xintong is the defending champion.
The World Grand Prix is a ranking event and the first of the three Players Series events, with the Players Championship and the Tour Championship. It left Cheltenham, where the 2019 edition was played, and in 2025 Hong Kong became the first venue outside the UK to host it.
Dates and venue
16–21 February 2027 at the Kai Tak Arena, Hong Kong. These dates come from WST's provisional 2026/27 calendar, which says dates and venues may still change.
Who qualifies
The field is the top 32 on the one-year ranking list, which counts only results from the current season. For 2026 the cut-off was the end of the Scottish Open, so places are decided by form over the autumn rather than by the two-year world rankings.
Format
Since 2026 the matches are longer: best of nine frames for the last 32, last 16 and quarter-finals, with four tables in use for the first two rounds. The semi-finals are best of 11 and the final best of 19. Before 2026 the first two rounds were best of seven.
Tickets
WST has not published a ticket route for 2027 yet. The 2026 edition sold tickets through HK Ticketing.
How to watch in the UK
TNT Sports, streaming on HBO Max. TNT Sports moved its streaming from discovery+ to HBO Max in the UK in March 2026, so older guides that say discovery+ are out of date. The World Grand Prix is not on the BBC, ITV or Channel 5.
